Authorities in Dover, New Hampshire, are investigating what officials believe may be a possible murder-suicide after two people were found dead inside a home on Dover Point Road on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. The victims were identified as 78-year-old Eileen Shevelin and her 57-year-old son, Thomas Wallace.

According to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office and Dover Police, officers responded to the residence to conduct a follow-up welfare check after concerns were raised about the occupants. When nobody answered the door, authorities forced entry into the home, where they discovered both individuals deceased.

Investigators stated that Eileen Shevelin was found dead in her bed, while Thomas Wallace was discovered with what authorities described as an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Senior Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati confirmed during a media briefing that investigators are actively examining the possibility that the incident was a murder-suicide, though officials emphasized that detectives are continuing to process evidence and follow standard homicide investigation procedures before making final conclusions.

The deaths have shocked residents throughout the Dover community, where neighbors described the incident as deeply tragic and unsettling. Police vehicles and investigators remained present around the Dover Point Road property for several hours Tuesday as forensic teams examined the scene and collected evidence connected to the case.

Authorities confirmed that autopsies for both Eileen Shevelin and Thomas Wallace were scheduled to take place Wednesday in Concord as investigators continue working to determine the exact causes and manners of death. Officials also stated they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public connected to the incident.

As news of the tragedy spread across New Hampshire, community members expressed condolences online while reflecting on the emotional impact the deaths have had on family, friends, and neighbors. The investigation remains active, and officials say additional information may be released as more facts become confirmed.
