Brush Fire Near Calabasas and Agoura Hills Draws Major Emergency Response

Fire crews responded quickly Tuesday afternoon to a brush fire near Calabasas and Agoura Hills as smoke rose above hillsides in one of Southern California’s busiest traffic corridors.

According to preliminary reports from Los Angeles County fire officials, the blaze broke out near Las Virgenes Road and Mulholland Highway shortly before midday. Dry brush, warm temperatures, and shifting winds reportedly contributed to the rapid spread of flames across hillside terrain.

Residents and motorists traveling through the area described seeing thick smoke visible for miles as firefighters, helicopters, and emergency vehicles rushed toward the scene. Several witnesses reported traffic slowdowns and temporary roadway restrictions while emergency crews established containment zones near active fire lines.

Los Angeles County Fire Department crews deployed both ground and aerial firefighting operations in an effort to prevent the blaze from threatening nearby homes and infrastructure. Helicopters were seen making repeated water drops while firefighters worked along canyon roads and brush-covered slopes.

Authorities urged residents to remain alert for possible evacuation notices and advised drivers to avoid affected areas whenever possible to allow emergency personnel access to the incident zone.

At this stage, officials have not publicly confirmed the exact size of the fire, whether structures were damaged, or if injuries have been reported. Fire investigators are expected to examine the cause once containment efforts stabilize.

The incident comes as Southern California continues facing elevated wildfire danger due to dry vegetation and changing weather conditions across Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
