Jaycob Heasley Bike Accident, 25-Year-Old Dies After E-Bike Crash in New Castle

Authorities in New Castle are continuing to investigate a fatal e-bike accident that claimed the life of 25-year-old Jaycob Heasley Tuesday evening.

According to the New Castle Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 6:35 p.m. on May 26, 2026, to the intersection of South Walnut Street and County Line Street following reports of a serious motor vehicle collision involving an e-bike and a marked Butler County Sheriff’s Office patrol cruiser.

Police said Jaycob Heasley, who was operating the e-bike, collided with the sheriff’s vehicle and was found unresponsive at the scene. Emergency responders quickly transported him to UPMC Jameson Hospital for emergency medical treatment, but despite lifesaving efforts, he was later pronounced dead.

Officials confirmed that the Butler County deputy involved in the incident was not injured. Sheriff Mike Slupe stated that the patrol cruiser sustained significant damage after the collision, including damage to the passenger-side door and shattered glass.

Investigators said the deputy had reportedly been traveling to Lawrence County Jail to pick up an inmate at the time of the crash.

The Pennsylvania State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialists Unit (CARS) responded to assist with the investigation alongside the New Castle Police Department. Authorities stated that the investigation into the fatal collision remains active and ongoing.

News of Jaycob Heasley’s death has spread throughout the New Castle community, where friends, family members, and residents have continued expressing condolences and mourning the tragic loss of the young man.
