Firefighters in Los Angeles County continued battling an active brush fire Wednesday morning near Malibu Canyon Road and Mulholland Highway as emergency crews rushed to prevent flames from threatening nearby communities.
According to reports from local fire officials, the blaze was first reported shortly after 9:30 a.m. near Malibu Canyon Road in the Calabasas area. Multiple ground crews and at least one water-dropping helicopter were deployed as smoke became visible across nearby hillsides.
Authorities confirmed that Malibu Canyon Road was temporarily closed in both directions near Mulholland Highway due to active firefighting operations. Officials urged drivers and residents to avoid the area while crews worked to contain the flames.
Early reports indicated that no homes appeared to be under immediate threat, though power lines and dry brush near the fire zone remained concerns for firefighters responding to the incident. The cause of the fire had not yet been publicly confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
The latest fire activity comes as Southern California continues facing elevated wildfire danger following several major fires across Ventura and Los Angeles counties in recent weeks. Fire officials have repeatedly warned that dry vegetation, warm temperatures, and shifting winds continue creating dangerous conditions throughout the region.
